Hello! I just wanted to write a quick post to say that I haven’t given up on this little blog of mine. I haven’t written a post since April 1, which was also the first day of chemistry class…sigh.
I am thinking about going back to school full time to open up some career options, but it’s been a few years and I wanted to make sure I could keep my head above water. Especially in chemistry.
But now that I have a routine going I’m brimming with ideas. I’ve actually been thinking about making a big change in the content, and moving this blog from primarily a baking blog to more of a lifestyle blog, still including some recipes.
I would love feedback if you have any to give…
Are there any posts you enjoy more than others (baking, book reviews, makeup reviews, videos, monthly favorites, style posts, writing, diary etc)?
Is there anything you would like to see more of?
Thanks so much for reading – I will be back soon with some fresh content!
It’s a new month, and that means it’s time to look back over the old one! Here are five of my favorite things from March.
These are two candles I’ve been burning for springtime. They are both clean scents that remind me of spring cleaning and the freshness of the season. The Coastal Breeze candle is literally the best aroma I have ever encountered from a candle – I think it must remind me of something happy from my childhood.
My only complaint is that the scent is not very strong from either of these candles. This is fine for small rooms, but I might stick with Bath and Body Works candles after this.
Next up – Hemp Hand Protector from The Body Shop. This is literally the best hand lotion I’ve ever tried! I love it so much! I initially tried this because I had a free sample. I applied it before bed and was startled by how well it worked. I even felt like my hands were continuing to heal and soften throughout the following day.
This is a thick cream so it’s best for nighttime. Also, I’m not madly in love with the smell, but it’s mild and some people do like it. I highly highly recommend this lotion! (I asked the sales associate what makes it so great and she said one of the ingredients is beeswax, so that might be what sets it apart.) Also – I purchased mine on sale for $10 (it’s usually $20) so keep an eye out for sale days.
I’ve mentioned before that I have a little bit of a nail polish addiction. These are my two favorites right now. They are so bright and cheerful, and I’ll probably continue to wear them into the summer. They are “Bikini So Teeny” and “Peach Daiquiri” by Essie.
On another nail note – for the past couple of months I’ve been suffering from nails that flake and peel at the tips. I think it has to do with winter. (I’ve tried taking a break from polish but it hasn’t helped.) So I’ve declared war on this issue, and these are my weapons: a nail buffer from Ulta, Biotin (a vitamin for hair/skin/nails) from Target, and Sally Hansen Miracle Cure (which I use as a base coat). I’m still in the process of getting my nails strong again, but I like all these tools so far!
I’m curious – do any of you have peeling nails? Any advice for healing them?
And lastly, my favorite memory/moment/day of this past month was March 4, when I presented my cookies on New Day Northwest! I had such a good time – I enjoyed exploring the station and seeing the director and producers at work. Margaret Larson was so friendly and pleasant both on and off camera. The Girl Scouts were also really helpful and a joy to work with. It was an amazing experience and something I’ll always remember. If you would like to watch the clip, I’ve included it below.
March was a great month for me, and I hope for you as well. Now on to new adventures!!
